It's important to note that this kit isn't just a simple suspension lift kit. It's an entire suspension system conversion kit. Including more than 25 components. It can ultimately offer a lift of 2.5 inches to 5 inches and a maximum wheel travel of 8 inches. Providing the vehicle with capability and strength to handle real hardcore off-road scenarios.
Unlike traditional lift kits that simply replace shocks and control arms, or even just lift spacers. PU.LABO's Off-Road Conversion Kit offers almost everything from control arms to spindle gussets to coil-over shock absorbers, and even includes subframes made of 4130 chromoly steel tubing. The reason for replacing so many chassis components, including the subframes, is that the Model Y/3 was not originally designed for these hardcore off-road scenarios and therefore cannot provide enough strength. Hence, a complete chassis redesign was necessary.
Of course, while providing greater strength, consideration was also given to the effect of unsprung weight on the energy consumption and handling of electric vehicles. So, for the upper control arms and spindle gussets, 7075 aviation-grade aluminum was used, while high-strength steel and chromoly steel tubing materials were used for the lower control arms and subframes. This ensures that the overall weight of the kit isn't much higher than the original.
Regarding the most crucial part of the suspension system – the shock absorbers. This kit uses PU.LABO's original designed 2.5-inch diameter coil-over shocks, with the Piggyback design. The height and compression damping are adjustable. This provides as much adjustment space as possible for different usage scenarios.
After the final design was implemented. PU.LABO conducted tens of thousands of kilometers of testing under various road conditions, including mud tests, desert tests, and even jump tests (although for safety reasons, it's not recommended for consumers to do jumps themselves).
